New attraction wins ‘Best New Product’ award at IAAPA Expo

The UK based Innovative Leisure has added another thrilling new product to its range of family attractions in the shape of a Mobile Zip Line.

Manufactured by long-standing partner Spectrum Sports International in the US and distributed exclusively in the UK and Europe by Innovative Leisure, the new Mobile Zip Line has taken the events and attractions industry by storm and has brought a revolutionary concept in mobile entertainment to the business.

Recipient of the 'Best New Product award' at the recent IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, Florida, the Mobile Zip Line provides operators with a brand new experience to offer their customers, one that will be a popular addition to any event or venue and exceed the expectations of the most discerning of customers.

The attraction has been developed over a number of years and is the first commercially available portable zip line (with multiple patents pending). Access is via a 30-inch wide staircase, which meets OSHA and ASTM requirements and takes participants to a height of 8.3m (28ft). At the top of the stairs, riders enter the launch barrel, which protects them from fall exposure until they are safely connected to the zip line. When ready to go, the operator opens a rotating safety gate and the rider is then able to take the 'leap of faith.'

At the bottom end of the attraction, a patent pending, innovative brake technology called the Auto-Retract® is employed to slow only the last part of the ride in a very smooth, carefully controlled action. This is a mechanized device that replaces the old method of stopping zip line riders by hand. Significantly it solves one of the most potentially dangerous aspects of any zip line, the stop, while also returning the trolley to the top of the attraction for the next rider, hence the name 'Auto-Retract.'

Another key element of the Mobile Zip Line is its easy set-up procedure. A 12-volt hydraulic lift system stands the tower into place at the touch of a button, the zip lines are secured and an inflatable wall is positioned at the lower end for intimidation!  Total set-up time is around just 30 minutes.

"When I first saw and sampled the new Mobile Zip Line I couldn't believe how good the experience was," commented Innovative Leisure MD Phil Pickersgill. "We also had quite a few customers from Europe who booked flights to the IAAPA show to come out for literally a couple of days just to see the Zip Line in action, such is the interest in it. It's going to be a very popular attraction and I can confirm that the first one supplied by ourselves will be in operation in the UK in March 2012, with others to follow."
