Helping holiday parks stand out from the crowd

Innovative Leisure, the adventure attractions specialist, has announced the completion of a number of new project installations at venues in the UK.

The company has almost two decades of experience supplying climbing wall attractions to a wide range of venues both in the UK and around Europe, including amusement and theme parks, zoos and safari parks, resorts, holiday parks and many more, and among its latest projects have been the addition of two climbing walls at Park Holidays UK.

The largest park operator in the south of England has invested in a 7.3m high stationary wall and a 7.3m high mobile wall at two of its 29 parks – Seawick at Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, and New Beach at Dymchurch, Kent. The new additions enhance Park Holidays UK’s regular entertainment offering and provide guests with an exciting and challenging activity to take part in, while also entertaining family and friends as they watch from the sidelines.

“The value the walls have brought to our entertainment programme has been immense,” says John Flack, Head of Entertainment at Park Holidays UK. “Bringing climbing walls to our holiday parks has brought new energy and excitement to our offer. Three generations of families are now enjoying the new climbing walls. Innovative Leisure made the process so simple and helped us at each step of the way.”

Also recognising the value of such attractions is another popular UK holiday destination, Richardson’s Hemsby Beach Holiday Park, in Norfolk, which has added several attractions to its site, including a Sky Tykes junior low ropes course. This provides the opportunity for youngsters below 1.2m in height and typically aged between two and seven-years-old to enjoy their first experience of a ropes course attraction. A unique feature of Sky Tykes is the walkthrough area which allows for a helper, usually a parent, to walk alongside their child while they negotiate the many challenging rope elements the course offers.

The Sky Tykes at Hemsby Beach is complemented by the addition of an indoor traversing wall and an outdoor, 7.3m stationary climbing wall, creating a diverse choice of adventure attractions for guests to enjoy, come rain or shine.

“In recent years, climbing attractions have become a popular addition in a number of sectors, including resorts and holiday parks,” notes Innovative Leisure Managing Director Phil Pickersgill. “With staycations and mini-breaks booming and becoming a popular option for many families, there has been a demand for resorts to supply entertainment that differs from the more familiar mix. This year we have seen a number of resorts invest in adventure attractions, with several opting for something that has the height to create a focal point at their venue.”
